Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This page lists exactly what YourCVMaker stores in your browser, grouped by purpose, and how long each group lasts. It is the detail behind the choices in the cookie banner.
Nothing here is a classic third-party tracking cookie — most of what’s listed is localStorage, which behaves like a cookie for consent purposes but is never sent to a server on every request the way a cookie is.
What we store
| Purpose | Storage keys | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps you signed in | Firebase Authentication session (IndexedDB, not a classic cookie) | Always active |
| Records the choices you’ve made on this banner and on AI consent prompts, so we don’t ask again unnecessarily | aerocv-cookie-choice, aerocv-cookie-prefs, aerocv-ai-consent, aerocv-ai-processing-consent, aerocv-terms-accepted-v* | Always active |
| The resume you’re currently editing, saved locally so a refresh never loses your work | aerocv-resume, aerocv-template, aerocv-resume-id, resume-editor-doc | Always active |
| Remembers your chosen language | aerocv-language | Always active |
| Short-lived handoffs between pages (e.g. which template you picked before signing in) | aerocv-handoff, aerocv-start-step, aerocv-preselect-template, aerocv-library-preselect, aerocv-library-filter, aerocv-template-return-to, aerocv-editor-preselect-template, aerocv-tool-handoff, aerocv-start-ai-tab, aerocv-target-job, aerocv-kickstart | Always active |
| Keeps a demo session active, if you’re trying the product without an account | aerocv-demo-session | Always active |
| A random per-browser id and any active AI fair-use cooldown, used only for abuse prevention | aerocv-device-id, aerocv-ai-cooldown | Always active |
| Local storage used only when Firebase isn’t configured (e.g. running the app offline for development) | aerocv-saved-jobs, aerocv-mock-interviews, tb-me-id, tb-directory, tb-buzzes | Always active |
| Small UI preferences — favorited templates, grid layout, which prompts you’ve already dismissed | aerocv-favorites, aerocv-grid-cols, aerocv-pref-category, aerocv-hidden-templates, aerocv-editor-choice, aerocv-cover-letter-prompt-dismissed, aerocv-fairuse-banner-dismissed, aerocv-import-guide-seen, aerocv-export-badge, aerocv-theme | Optional |
| Visit and usage analytics via Google Analytics, only if you accept it | _ga, _ga_5WZBX7H627 (Google Analytics’ own cookies, not localStorage — set only if you accept analytics) | Optional |
A key stops existing the moment its feature is removed; this table is updated whenever that happens.
Ad tracking and analytics
We run no advertising cookies, no cross-site ad-tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics that sells or shares your data for advertising. We do use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — but only if you accept the Performance category in the cookie banner; it’s off by default and only starts once you say yes. Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless, keeps running either way.
