9 Best AI Resume Builders in 2026, Ranked

The best AI resume builder depends on what you actually need — a keyword-matching engine, a job tracker that's free forever, or full control over how the resume looks — not a marketing score out of 5. We checked pricing and features for eight competitors plus our own product against each company's own live site today, and every entry below concedes what that tool genuinely does better than the rest, including us.

The 9 AI resume builders, compared

Every number below is something you can verify yourself on the company's own pricing or feature page — we checked all nine live on 2026-08-25. Nobody here gets a self-assigned star rating; the columns are what actually differs.

There's no single best AI resume builder — Rezi wins on keyword-matching, Teal on a free-forever job tracker, Kickresume on unlimited free downloads, and YourCVMaker on giving every plan an Advanced Editor across 229 templates, powered by Anthropic's Claude, for a flat €9.99/month.

Rezi

Rezi's entire product is built around ATS keyword-matching: paste in a job description and its AI Keyword Targeting lists exactly what your resume is missing, while the Rezi Score grades a resume 0–100 across content, format and best-practice categories. Its site names five specific ATS platforms it checks compatibility against — Ashby, Greenhouse, Workday, Bamboo HR and Lever — a level of named-system detail few competitors publish, and the Pro plan includes one free expert human resume review a month, something none of the other eight tools here offer.

The free plan is capped tight, though: one resume, one template ("Standard Format"), three PDF downloads and one AI interview. Unlocking everything else means $29/month or a $149 one-time Lifetime plan. We go deeper on Rezi's editing model and its new auto-fill-and-apply Chrome extension in our full Rezi comparison.

Jobscan

Jobscan is close to the category creator here — its whole product is a resume-to-job-description match-rate scanner, not a visual resume designer. The free plan gives 5 resume scans a month plus 5 ATS & recruiter findings, a job tracker and a Chrome extension, no credit card required, which is a genuinely useful free tier for a single-purpose tool.

Going unlimited (scans, AI optimizations, an AI Cover Letter Generator, a LinkedIn Optimizer, AI Job Match) costs $49.95/month billed monthly, or $29.98/month billed as $89.95 every 3 months after a 7-day free trial. Its resume builder exists but is a secondary feature bolted onto the scanning engine — if you already have a resume and just want to know how well it matches a specific posting, that's Jobscan's actual strength.

Resume.io

Resume.io is built around automation rather than editing control. Its site describes an AI resume builder that's "10x faster," with voice dictation that "fixes mistakes" as you speak, plus a done-for-you auto-apply service where, per its own copy, "our team of experts apply for you," and an option to send your resume to 50 recruiters a week. That's a genuinely broader job-search product than a resume editor — it's trying to handle the whole search, not just the document.

The free plan only downloads in TXT format on every template except one — a real PDF is available on its single free "Vancouver" template. Unlocking PDF downloads on any other template means starting a paid plan at $2.95 for 7 days, which auto-renews at $29.95 billed every 4 weeks, or a $49.95-per-3-months quarterly plan. Our full Resume.io comparison covers the auto-apply model in more depth.

Kickresume

Kickresume's free plan is genuinely more generous on the one point most competitors restrict hardest: it lets you download your resume for free, unlimited times, from 4 basic templates and 4 matching cover letter templates. Most tools on this list, including us, still cap free downloads rather than leaving them unlimited; our own free plan gives 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (plain layout, small footer credit), with an additional one-time Designer PDF for a verified student/teacher email.

Paying unlocks 40+ resume templates, an AI Writer, an ATS Resume Checker, a "Career Map" career-path planning tool, LinkedIn/PDF import and native iOS/Android apps, for €24/month billed monthly, €18/month billed €54 every 3 months, or €8/month billed €96 annually (a 25% saving per Kickresume's own pricing page). Its library of 20,000 pre-written phrases across 3,200+ job titles is also a genuinely deep content-assist feature, bigger in raw scale than what most competitors here publish.

Teal

Teal's free plan is the most generous truly-free tier we found for this piece: unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking, dozens of resume templates and a basic Design Mode — free forever, no credit card required. The catch is the AI: the free plan caps you at 10 AI-assisted resume bullets, a 2-credit professional summary and a 2-credit cover letter per month, plus job-description keyword matching limited to the top 10 terms and a "Top 5" analysis mode.

Teal+ removes those caps — unlimited AI credits, unlimited keyword matching, advanced Design Mode settings — for $13 billed every 7 days, $29 every 30 days, or $79 every 90 days. If what you actually want is a free-forever job tracker with a competent resume builder attached, Teal's free tier alone beats most of the paid plans on this list.

Enhancv

Enhancv's free plan is worth reading carefully: unlike Teal's free-forever tier, Enhancv's own pricing page lists the free plan as "valid for 7 days," after which continuing to edit requires Pro. During that week you get every template and all design tools, capped at 12 items per section and with Enhancv branding on the export.

Pro Quarterly runs €57.53 billed every 3 months (about €19/month), removes the branding and item cap, adds real-time content suggestions and an ATS check, and covers 300 resumes and cover letters. Enhancv's design quality and content-suggestion engine are genuinely well regarded — its own site cites 5,321 reviews rated "Excellent," and its visual polish is a real strength if design is your priority over editing flexibility.

Wobo

Wobo isn't really a resume builder first — its own site describes it as "your personal AI recruiter for automated job applications," and its core feature is applying to jobs on your behalf, not editing a resume's design. The free plan applies to 5 jobs a day for you, with basic matching and 2 AI-generated cover letters.

The Unlimited plan ($34.99/month) removes the daily cap and adds unlimited AI cover letters and resume-builder access; the Autopilot plan ($44.99/month, with a 5-day free trial) has Wobo both find and apply to jobs with no manual selection per application. That's a genuinely different, higher-automation category than every other tool on this list, including us — our own browser extension auto-fills application-form fields but never submits one without you clicking; Wobo's whole premise is the opposite.

StylingCV

StylingCV's differentiator is that it doesn't rely on a single AI vendor — its site describes "11 specialized AI agents" running across multiple models, naming GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity among them, each handling a different part of the resume-writing, ATS-optimization and cover-letter pipeline. That multi-model approach is a genuinely different bet than the single-model competitors here, us included.

Its cheapest paid tier, Professional, is $8.99/month for 2,500 AI credits, 5 resumes with unlimited downloads and 25 templates; Premium+ is $15.49/month for 5,000 credits, 10 resumes and 58 templates; Career+ is $40/month with unlimited resumes and credits, aimed at coaching teams. All three paid tiers include unlimited downloads from the first dollar, which is more generous on that specific point than several other tools on this list.

YourCVMaker

Since 2026-09-07, every Free account gets 1 ATS-friendly PDF download — a plain, single-layout PDF with a small footer credit line, not the designed template — with Designer PDF, PNG and Word still requiring Pro (a signed-in Free account with a verified student/teacher email additionally gets one free Designer PDF download, once). The trade-off is that the free plan gives you all 229 templates in the library to build and preview — not a limited subset — plus 10 AI credits a month for scoring, summaries and job-tailoring, and AI Job Search: one search that fans out to eight job boards (Adzuna, Arbeitnow, Remotive, Jobicy, RemoteOK, Himalayas, The Muse and Jooble), de-duplicates the results, and saves listings to a 5-stage Job Tracker board (Saved, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, Rejected). TalentBuzz, an opt-in, anonymous profile recruiters can search, is included on both Free and Pro.

Pro is a flat €9.99/month: 500 AI credits (most AI actions cost 1 credit, AI rewrites and AI-Editor chat turns cost 2, so that's roughly 250–500 actions a month), 10 watermark-free downloads a month across PDF, PNG and Word, AI-personalized cover letters and a live, camera-on Interview Prep tool. The Advanced Editor — moving, resizing and recoloring individual elements on the template canvas — currently covers 215 of those 229 templates (marked beta on the library); the rest use the simpler Quick/AI Editor. See the full pricing breakdown or browse the template library.

How we actually compared these tools

We didn't score anyone with an invented "9.2/10" or a 5-star rating — those numbers are usually assigned by whoever's selling the product, us included if we tried it. Every claim above is something you can verify on the competitor's own pricing or feature page: an exact price, an exact free-plan limit, a named AI model where one is named, a named ATS platform where one is named. Where a claim wasn't documented anywhere on a competitor's own site, we left it out rather than guess.

Four things actually separate these tools once you dig past the marketing: whether the free plan lets you download anything real without a time limit (Kickresume and Teal both do; most don't), whether the AI model behind the writing features is named anywhere (Kickresume, StylingCV and we do; Rezi, Resume.io, Jobscan, Teal and Enhancv don't publish it), whether the pricing page shows the renewal price next to the trial price up front, and whether "apply" means you click submit or the tool does it for you. None of those show up in a star rating.

Is there a truly free AI resume builder?

Teal comes closest — its free plan is unlimited on resumes and job tracking, with no time limit and no credit card, though AI credits are capped at 10 bullets, a 2-credit summary and a 2-credit cover letter a month. Kickresume's free plan also allows unlimited downloads, just from 4 basic templates. YourCVMaker's free plan lets you build and preview a resume on all 229 templates with 10 AI credits a month, and includes 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (plain layout, small footer credit); Designer PDF, PNG and Word still need Pro, except a one-time Designer PDF for a signed-in account with a verified student/teacher email. Jobscan's free plan gives 5 scans a month rather than unlimited, and Enhancv's "free" plan expires after 7 days. Nobody's free plan gives you everything.

Do AI resume builders actually get past the ATS?

The AI features don't get you past anything on their own — the file format does. A single-column layout in real, selectable text is what an ATS parser actually needs; multi-column layouts, text inside images and icon-based skill bars are what get dropped during parsing, regardless of which builder made them. We explain the mechanics in how ATS actually reads your resume, and how we test our own ATS-Friendly export with four automated checks before every release: field recovery, section detection, reading order and keyword retention.

What's the difference between a resume builder and an auto-apply tool?

A resume builder helps you make the document; an auto-apply tool submits applications for you. Wobo and Resume.io both sell auto-apply as a core feature — Wobo's Autopilot plan has it find and apply to jobs with no manual selection, and Resume.io's site says "our team of experts apply for you." Rezi's newer Chrome extension also auto-fills and submits in one click. YourCVMaker's browser extension only auto-fills the form fields on Greenhouse, Lever, Workday and yourcvmaker.com — you always click submit yourself.

Which resume builders name the AI model they actually use?

Most don't — "AI" stays an unnamed black box on most competitor sites we checked. Kickresume names GPT-4.1 for its AI Cover Letter Writer, StylingCV names GPT-4o, Claude and Gemini across its "11 specialized AI agents," and YourCVMaker names Anthropic's Claude models explicitly in its Privacy Policy. Rezi, Resume.io, Jobscan, Teal and Enhancv don't publish which model powers their AI features on their own sites.
