Zety Alternatives With No Subscription (2026)

If you're reading this, something about Zety already made you want to check what else is out there -- usually the price you saw at checkout versus the price on the renewal email. Before you compare a single dollar figure, here's what's actually worth checking on any Zety alternative: can the free plan really download a file, or just preview one; what does it cost after any trial or discount period ends, not during it; and does the editor let you actually move things around, or just fill in fields inside a template someone else designed. Here's that comparison, checked live against each product's own site.

What to actually check before you switch

Three questions cut through most of the marketing on any resume-builder pricing page. First: does the free plan let you download anything, and in what format -- several of the biggest names (Zety included) let you build for free but only export a plain TXT file, with PDF or Word locked behind payment. Second: what's the real, ongoing price -- not the number in bold at the top of the page, but the number you're charged after a trial or introductory period ends, which can be five to ten times higher. Third: is the editor fixed-field (you type into slots inside a template someone else laid out) or genuinely customizable (you can move, resize or recolor the actual design elements). The table below checks all three for six real Zety alternatives, including us.

Novoresume€19.99/month, €39.99 billed quarterly, or €139.99 billed yearly -- pay once, no auto-renewalNo -- the free Basic plan is capped at a single 1-page resume with predefined layouts, and blocks downloading once a Premium feature is usedPredefined layouts on the free plan; a Custom Layout option unlocks on PremiumWanting to pay once instead of starting any kind of subscription
Enhancv€19.18/month, billed as €57.53 every 3 months (Pro Quarterly), after a free planNo -- the "free plan" is a 7-day window, not an ongoing free tier, and Enhancv branding stays on anything you export during itOne template at a time with heavy built-in content and wording suggestionsReal-time writing/content coaching while you draft
Kickresume€24/month, €18/month billed quarterly (€54/3mo), or €8/month billed yearly (€96/yr)Yes -- the free plan's 4 basic templates come with unlimited downloads, no payment required to export themFixed fields; 40+ additional templates and full color/font customization unlock on paid plansGetting an actual downloaded resume without paying anything

Zety's real pricing, the baseline you're comparing against

Zety's free plan is genuinely useful on paper -- unlimited edits, a 30-issue resume check, Instant Job Matches -- but downloads are TXT only; PDF and Word both require a paid plan. Per Zety's own pricing page, that's a 14-day Pro trial at $1.95 that "auto-renews at $25.95 billed every 4 weeks" once the trial ends, or a separate Annual plan at $5.95/month billed as $71.40 upfront that "auto-renews each year." We verified those exact figures directly against Zety's pricing page on 2026-08-01 for our full Zety comparison, and Zety's own site has blocked automated re-checks since 2026-08-09 -- so that's the baseline we're citing here rather than re-deriving it, and it's the most current confirmed figure we have.

If the jump from that $1.95 trial to a $25.95 recurring charge is part of why you're looking for alternatives, it's worth knowing that pattern is now the subject of an actual, unresolved lawsuit rather than just a subjective complaint. A federal antitrust complaint -- Rocket Resume, Inc. v. BOLD Limited et al., No. 5:26-cv-02852, filed April 2, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, covered by HR Executive -- alleges that Zety, MyPerfectResume and LiveCareer share a common corporate parent (BOLD Limited) and that BOLD's resume-builder brands as a group "entice users with free or low-cost resume builders" before charging a small amount at checkout (the complaint cites a range of roughly $1.85 to $2.95) that then renews at "10 to 20 times that amount every four weeks" -- a range that, on its high end, lines up with the $25.95 renewal figure above. This is an allegation in an active, untested lawsuit, not a court finding or an admission by any of the named companies -- read the coverage yourself before treating it as settled fact. We mention it only because it directly explains the billing pattern searchers are reacting to; it's not a reason to distrust any specific alternative below.

Novoresume: the only one that isn't a subscription

Novoresume's pricing page is upfront about the thing every other product on this list buries: "Pay once. No recurring billing." Premium is €19.99 for a month, €39.99 for a quarter, or €139.99 for a year, charged once with no auto-renewal and a 14-day refund window -- genuinely rare in this category, and worth real credit. The tradeoff is the free Basic plan: a single 1-page resume in a predefined layout, no cover letter, and no downloading once you touch a Premium-only feature. If avoiding a recurring charge matters more to you than anything else on this list, Novoresume is the most direct answer to that specific concern.

Enhancv: strong content coaching, a genuinely short free window

Enhancv leans hardest into content quality: real-time suggestions as you write, an ATS check built into the editor, and templates the company markets as "approved by recruiters." What's worth flagging clearly is the free plan's structure -- it's explicitly "valid for 7 days," not an ongoing free tier the way Zety's or YourCVMaker's free plans are, and it caps you at 12 section items with Enhancv branding attached throughout. Pro Quarterly runs €57.53 billed every 3 months (about €19.18/month), discounted 32% off a higher listed price on the pricing page itself. If you want AI-assisted wording help while you draft and you'll finish inside a week, the free plan can work; if you need longer, budget for the paid tier from day one.

Kickresume: the one free plan that actually lets you download

Kickresume is the one product on this list where "free" means unlimited for downloads specifically: the free plan's 4 basic resume templates and 4 matching cover letter templates come with unlimited downloads, no payment required to export a finished file. That's a real, concrete difference from Zety, Enhancv and Novoresume, which gate downloads behind a paid plan almost entirely, and from YourCVMaker, whose free plan gives 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account rather than an unlimited allowance. Premium unlocks 40+ additional templates, an AI writer, an ATS checker and full color/font customization, at €8/month billed yearly (€96), €18/month billed quarterly (€54), or €24/month billed monthly. If getting an unlimited number of downloaded resumes for $0 is the deciding factor, Kickresume is the most direct answer to that.

Jobscan: not really a builder replacement, but a real reason people search for one

Jobscan is worth including with an honest caveat: its core product isn't a design tool, it's a match-rate report that compares your resume's text against a specific job description and tells you what's missing -- unlimited scans, unlimited keyword comparisons, and an AI cover letter generator on paid plans. A resume builder is bundled in, but it's secondary to that scanning function. Free is $0/month with 5 resume scans and 5 ATS & Recruiter Findings monthly; paid plans are $49.95/month, or $29.98/month billed $89.95 every 3 months after a 7-day free trial. If your actual frustration with Zety is "I don't know if my resume matches this specific job posting," Jobscan solves that problem more directly than any resume builder on this list, YourCVMaker included -- though our own free keyword scanner covers similar ground for a quick check at no cost.

StylingCV: fast, AI-agent-drafted, and multilingual

StylingCV's pitch is speed and language coverage: a guided form filled in with the help of several named AI agents (it markets "11 Specialized AI Agents" covering things like keyword optimization, achievement quantification and ATS formatting), support for 20+ languages including Arabic with right-to-left formatting, and a free plan whose own feature list explicitly includes "build & download your resume" -- no credit card required. Paid plans start at $8.99/month (Professional), discounted from a listed $17.99/month, up to $15.49/month (Premium+) and $40/month (Career+) for team features. If you need a resume in a language most builders on this list don't support well, or want AI to draft more of the wording for you upfront, StylingCV is a genuine fit.

Where YourCVMaker fits in

We're one of the alternatives on this list, not a neutral referee, so here's the honest version: YourCVMaker is a flat €9.99/month with no trial-price step-up and no annual lock-in, and -- since 2026-09-07 -- every Free account gets 1 ATS-friendly PDF download (plain single-layout, small footer credit line), narrowing but not closing the gap with Zety's TXT-only free plan or Kickresume's unlimited downloads. Designer PDF, PNG and Word exports still require Pro, plus the existing narrow exception: a signed-in Free account with a verified student/teacher email also gets one free Designer PDF download, once. Where we differ structurally is the editor. Every one of our 229 templates in the template library is a real HTML/CSS design turned into a canvas of individually selectable, moveable, resizable elements, not a fixed set of fields -- 215 of those run on the Advanced Editor specifically, with the remaining 14 on a simpler Quick/AI Editor. AI features (summary writing, scoring, job-tailoring, interview prep) run on Anthropic's Claude, named explicitly in our Privacy Policy, and every plan can export a separate ATS-Friendly PDF alongside the designed one -- tested with four automated checks before every release. If you want the specific, line-by-line version of this against Zety -- including a full pricing table -- that's the full YourCVMaker vs Zety comparison.

Is there a Zety alternative with no trial-price catch at all?

Two products on this list avoid that pattern entirely, in different ways. Novoresume charges once per period (monthly, quarterly or yearly) with no auto-renewal at all, so there's no separate "renewal price" to be surprised by. YourCVMaker charges one flat €9.99/month from the first charge, with no discounted trial period that jumps to a higher price later. Kickresume's paid tiers do auto-renew, but its free plan's downloads are unlimited and unpaywalled, so you can avoid a subscription altogether if 4 templates are enough.

On cancelling specifically: YourCVMaker's subscription isn't a multi-step trial that quietly starts billing later, and there's no separate cancellation flow to hunt down either -- "Manage billing" in account settings opens Stripe's own customer portal, where cancelling is one click, with no email to write and no retention call to sit through. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Which alternative actually lets you download for free?

Based on what each company's own pricing page says today: Kickresume (4 free templates, unlimited downloads, no payment) and StylingCV (free plan explicitly includes "build & download your resume") both allow ongoing free downloads. Zety, Enhancv and Novoresume require a paid plan to export a real file for the general case -- Zety's free downloads are TXT only, and the other two block PDF/Word/PNG entirely on their free tiers. YourCVMaker's free plan gives 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (plain layout, small footer credit) since 2026-09-07; Designer PDF, PNG and Word exports still need Pro, with one exception on our own: a verified student/teacher email gets one free Designer PDF download, once.

Do you have to pick just one?

Not really -- most of these have a real, no-cost way to try the editor itself (YourCVMaker's free plan included) before you'd ever enter payment details, so building the same resume in two or three and comparing the actual output is a reasonable way to decide, rather than picking off price alone.
