Resume Builder Pricing Compared (2026)

The number on a resume builder's homepage is rarely the number you end up paying. "Free" often means free to build but not to download, and "starting at $1.95" almost always means a short trial that quietly auto-renews at a much higher price a week or two later. We checked every tool below against its own live pricing page on the same day, and built the table around the number that actually matters: what it costs once the teaser price is gone.

The real price of every plan, at a glance

Every row below was checked against that company's own pricing page on 2026-08-25 — sources and exact wording for each are in the sections underneath. Prices are shown in whichever currency each site displayed at the time of checking (some localize by region), which is itself worth noticing — see "what to watch for" further down this page.

Novoresume is the only tool here with no subscription at all, charging once per period. Rezi, Teal and Kickresume price flat with no trial-to-renewal jump, while Zety and Resume.io lure with a $2-3 trial that renews 8-15x higher. YourCVMaker charges one flat €9.99/month from the first charge, with no hidden renewal step.

YourCVMaker: €9.99/month, nothing else to know

There is one paid plan: €9.99/month, cancel anytime, same price whether you stay one month or twelve. No trial price that jumps later, no annual plan required to get a lower rate. The free plan gives 10 AI credits a month, access to every template in the library to build and preview, and — since 2026-09-07 — 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (a plain, single-layout PDF with a small footer credit line). Designer PDF, PNG and Word exports still require Pro for the general case, and we say so plainly rather than burying it. The existing narrow exception stays, additionally: a signed-in Free account with a verified student/teacher email gets one free Designer PDF download, once. As of 2026-08-25 the template library (yourcvmaker.com/templates) lists 229 templates total.

Rezi: $29/month, and no separate trial trick

Checked at rezi.ai/pricing on 2026-08-25. Rezi's free plan is capped at 1 resume, 1 template ("Standard Format"), 3 PDF downloads and 1 AI interview. Its Pro plan is a flat $29/month, or $149 one-time for a Lifetime plan — Rezi does not run a cheap trial that jumps to a higher price later, which is worth crediting: what you see is what you pay from day one. For the full technology and feature comparison, see YourCVMaker vs Rezi.

Resume.io: $2.95 now, $29.95 in a week

Checked at resume.io/pricing on 2026-08-25. The free plan is limited to one resume and one cover letter, and downloads only as TXT on every template except one — Resume.io's own help center confirms a real PDF export on its single free "Vancouver" template. The 7-day trial is priced at $2.95 and its own FAQ states plainly: "if you don't cancel you are automatically subscribed to the premium monthly membership," which renews at $29.95 billed every 4 weeks. A Quarterly option is $49.95 billed every 3 months with no separate trial step. (Our own YourCVMaker vs Resume.io comparison verified this page on 2026-08-09 at €2.95 trial / €24.95 renewal — today's check showed USD figures instead, likely a currency/region display difference rather than a re-priced plan; see the note below.)

Zety: €2.70 now, €23.70 four weeks later

Checked at zety.com/pricing on 2026-08-25. The free plan allows unlimited edits and downloads, but only in TXT format, plus a free Resume Check that flags 30+ issues and Instant Job Matches — a genuinely useful free feature set. The Pro trial is listed at €2.70 for 14 days, with the page stating "After 14 days, auto-renews at 23,70 € billed every 4 weeks. Cancel anytime." An Annual Package is shown at €5.95/month, "Pay 71,40 € at once, save 77%. Auto-renews each year." Zety's own site displayed both EUR figures (in the hero pricing cards) and USD figures ($1.95 / $5.95, in the comparison table further down the same page) during our check — see the currency note below. Template count is 18+, confirmed again today. Full comparison: YourCVMaker vs Zety.

Jobscan: a scanner and tracker first, a resume builder second

Checked at app.jobscan.co/plan on 2026-08-25 (jobscan.co/pricing redirects here). Jobscan's free plan is genuinely usable long-term — 5 resume scans a month, forever, no card required — and its core product is keyword/ATS-match scanning and a job tracker, with a resume builder attached rather than the other way around, so it is not a strict apples-to-apples comparison with the other tools here. The Quarterly plan advertises "Try 7 Days Free" and then bills $89.95 every 3 months (≈$29.98/mo, marketed as "Save 40%"). A Monthly plan skips the trial entirely at a flat $49.95/month — its own FAQ notes "there is no trial period if you... selected a monthly plan."

Kickresume: the free plan actually downloads, but only 4 templates

Checked at kickresume.com/en/pricing on 2026-08-25. Worth crediting: Kickresume's free plan includes unlimited downloads with no PDF paywall, which is rarer than it should be in this category — but it's limited to 4 resume templates, 4 matching cover letter templates and 2 fonts. Premium is €24/month paid monthly, €18/month billed €54 quarterly, or the advertised headline of €8/month billed as €96 upfront for a year (marked "SAVE 25%" and "Most popular choice"). There is no separate low-price trial step — the yearly discount is the main pricing lever here, not a trial-to-renewal jump.

Enhancv: the "free" plan has a 7-day clock on it

Checked at enhancv.com/pricing on 2026-08-25. Enhancv's free plan is labeled €0, but the page itself states it is "Valid for 7 days" — after that window, the free account stops functioning rather than simply staying limited, which is a meaningfully different kind of "free" than the other tools here. The one paid tier we could confirm live is Pro Quarterly at €57.53 billed every 3 months (≈€19.18/mo), shown as 32.19% off an €84.84 reference price. Enhancv's marketing also references other billing cadences (a page title referenced a lower monthly-equivalent price) that we could not confirm from the live pricing page content during this check, so we left those numbers out rather than guess.

Teal: no bait-and-switch trial, but AI use is capped on Free

Checked at tealhq.com/pricing on 2026-08-25. Teal's free plan is genuinely "Free Forever" with unlimited job tracking and a basic builder — worth crediting — but AI usage is metered even on paid-adjacent terms: 10 credits for AI resume bullets, 2 for a professional summary, 2 for a cover letter, versus unlimited on Teal+. Teal+ itself has no discounted trial step; it's priced straight as $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days, or $79 every 90 days — the same number recurs each cycle, though the per-day cost drops the longer you commit ($1.85/day weekly vs. $0.87/day quarterly).

Novoresume: the one tool here that isn't actually a subscription

Checked at novoresume.com/pricing on 2026-08-25. This is worth calling out on its own: Novoresume's pricing page states directly, "Pay once. No recurring billing" — "our pricing model is not subscription based." Premium is €19.99/month if you pay monthly, €39.99 for a quarter (≈€13.33/mo, "33%" savings) or €139.99 for a year (≈€11.67/mo, "41%" savings), and a 14-day refund window applies. The free plan is capped at a single, 1-page resume with no cover letter and 3 fonts. If your main concern is avoiding an auto-renewal you forget about, Novoresume's model genuinely solves that — it's a real, different trade-off from every subscription tool on this list, including us.

What to watch for when comparing resume builder pricing

Trial-to-renewal jumps are the single biggest gap between advertised and real price in this category. A $1–3, 7-to-14-day trial that auto-renews at 8–15x the price is the norm, not the exception — Resume.io, Zety and Jobscan's Quarterly plan all use this exact structure. The trial price gets the search-result click; the renewal price is what you actually pay unless you cancel before the window closes.

Annual-only discounts change what "starting price" means. Kickresume's €8/month and Novoresume's €11.67/month headlines only apply if you pay the full year upfront (€96 and €139.99 respectively) — the real monthly-billing price is €24 and €19.99. Always check what the discounted number is billed as before comparing it to a flat monthly price like ours.

What "free" downloads actually means varies a lot. Zety lets you build and edit for free but only exports a TXT file — not a usable PDF; Resume.io is the same except its single free "Vancouver" template, which does export a real PDF. Rezi caps free downloads at 3 PDFs. Enhancv's free plan stops working entirely after 7 days. Kickresume is the outlier with genuinely unlimited free downloads. YourCVMaker's free plan includes 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (plain layout, small footer credit) since 2026-09-07 — we'd rather state that cap plainly than dress it up — with Designer PDF, PNG and Word still requiring Pro, plus one exception: a verified student/teacher email gets one free Designer PDF download, once.

Some pricing pages localize the number, and even the currency, to your session. During this research we saw Zety and Enhancv display EUR pricing while Resume.io, Rezi, Jobscan and Teal displayed USD pricing in the same browsing session — and Zety's own page showed both EUR and USD numbers in different sections. Whatever price you see on a screenshot in a review article may not be the price you're shown when you visit directly — always check the live page yourself.

Per-scan or per-download tools are a different category than flat-subscription builders. Jobscan's core product is priced around scans and optimizations, not resume creation itself, so comparing its $49.95/month straight to a resume-builder subscription undersells what it actually does (and what it doesn't).

Is there a resume builder with no subscription at all?

Yes — Novoresume is the one tool in this comparison that isn't a recurring subscription. Its own pricing page states "Pay once. No recurring billing," so a €19.99 (or discounted €39.99/€139.99) purchase buys you a fixed period with nothing set to auto-renew afterward. Every other paid tool here, including YourCVMaker, bills on a recurring cycle — ours is just a flat €9.99/month with no trial-price step and no annual requirement, so at minimum there's nothing hidden about what the recurring charge will be.

Why do so many resume builders use a $1–2 trial?

It's a standard subscription-marketing pattern: a very low, low-friction price gets someone to enter payment details and start using the product, and the subscription then auto-renews at the real price unless the person actively cancels within the trial window. Resume.io ($2.95 to $29.95/4wks), Zety (€2.70 to €23.70/4wks) and Jobscan's Quarterly plan (7-day free trial to $89.95/3mo) all use versions of this. It isn't universal — Rezi, Teal and Kickresume all price their paid plans as a flat, undiscounted number from the start, with no separate trial price to remember to cancel.

Does a "free" resume builder actually let me download my resume?

Often not in a usable, designed format, though the picture is improving. Zety's free plan exports TXT only — not PDF or Word — on every template, so you can build a resume for free but can't actually submit it anywhere without upgrading. Resume.io's free plan is the same, except a real PDF is available on its single free "Vancouver" template. Rezi's free plan allows exactly 3 PDF downloads. Enhancv's free plan works fully for 7 days and then stops. Kickresume is the one exception with genuinely unlimited free downloads. YourCVMaker's free plan gives 1 ATS-friendly PDF download per account (plain layout, small footer credit line) across every template — Pro is required for the designed Designer PDF, PNG or Word — which is a real limitation we'd rather you know about upfront than discover at checkout, with one narrow exception: a signed-in account with a verified student/teacher email gets one free Designer PDF download, once.
