Childcare Worker Resume: What Gets Hired
A childcare center or preschool checks your background clearance and CPR/First Aid certification before reading a single line — state licensing rules mean an applicant missing either gets filtered out automatically. After that, what separates a callback from a pass is proof you can run a group safely and hit developmental milestones, not generic "good with kids" language.
What actually makes a difference
- Lead with your CPR/First Aid certification and background check/state clearance status (plus a CDA credential if you have one) — centers can't legally schedule you for a shift without these already on file.
- Name the age group and ratio you've managed directly — "sole caregiver for a group of 8 toddlers at a 1:4 ratio" tells a director what room you can walk into far better than "childcare experience."
- Reference the curriculum or framework you've used (Creative Curriculum, HighScope, Montessori) and any milestones you've tracked — accredited centers screen for exactly this.
- If you've managed parent communication, meal/nap scheduling, or trained an assistant, give it its own line — that's real operational responsibility, not just supervision.
