Social Worker Resume: Proving Impact
A social worker's resume has to prove real impact — caseload size, outcomes, coordination across agencies — without ever naming a client or case. Most social work resumes fail by going too vague to mean anything, or too specific to be appropriate.
What actually makes a difference
- Lead with your license level and state (LCSW, LMSW, LSW) — it's one of the first hard filters on agency, hospital, and school postings.
- Quantify caseload, not clients: "managed a caseload of 45 families" or "coordinated care across 3 county agencies" proves scale without naming anyone.
- Name your practice areas and modalities specifically (crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, child welfare, CBT) — generic "counseling" gets skipped by both ATS and hiring managers.
- If you've supervised interns, run a support group, or built a referral network, that's leadership experience — give it its own line instead of folding it into "other duties."
