Insurance Agent Resume: Production Wins
Insurance agencies hire on production, not personality — a resume that reads like a cover letter instead of a sales record gets passed over fast. What gets an interview is proof of an active license, a book you can bring, and numbers an agency manager can compare against quota.
What actually makes a difference
- Lead with your lines of authority and state license number (P&C, Life & Health) — agencies and carriers can't legally put you on the phone without it, and it's the first filter on almost every posting.
- Turn "sold policies" into a number: new premium written, policies closed per month, or retention/renewal rate — agencies hire on production, and a dollar figure beats "strong sales record" every time.
- Name the agency management system you've used (AMS360, EZLynx, Applied Epic) — many agencies and MGAs filter applications on the exact platform they run.
- If you're bringing a book of business or an active referral pipeline, say so directly with a size or renewal percentage — that's often the single biggest factor in an agency's hiring decision.
