Dental Hygienist Resume: What Gets Interviews
A dental hygienist resume gets filtered on license status before a practice manager reads anything else — whether you're a licensed RDH decides if the rest of the resume even gets read. After that, what separates a callback from a pass is proof you can run a full patient day, not a list of duties.
What actually makes a difference
- Lead with your RDH license and state, plus your local anesthesia or nitrous oxide certification if you have one — it's the first hard filter for almost every practice, and belongs in the header, not a certifications section at the bottom.
- Name the practice management software you've used (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental) — offices frequently filter applications for the exact system they run.
- Quantify your patient day: patients seen per shift, hygiene recall percentage, or specific procedures you perform independently (scaling and root planing, periodontal charting, sealants).
- If you're cross-trained on digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, or chairside assisting for same-day crowns, name it directly — practices read that as fewer training days needed before you're productive.
