Pharmacy Tech Resume: What Gets You Hired
A pharmacy resume gets filtered on certification and state registration before anyone reads a single bullet — a pharmacy can't legally put you behind the counter without it, no matter how strong the rest of the resume is. After that, what separates a callback from a pass is proof you can handle real volume on the exact systems a pharmacy runs, not a list of general duties.
What actually makes a difference
- Lead with your certification (CPhT via PTCB or ExCPT) and state registration/license number in the header — most chains and hospital pharmacies won't consider an applicant without it already on file.
- Name the pharmacy software you've used (QS/1, PioneerRx, Epic Willow, Cerner) — chains and hospital systems frequently filter applications on the exact platform they run.
- Quantify your volume: prescriptions filled per shift, fill accuracy rate, or IV/compounding counts if applicable — a real number reads as more credible than "detail-oriented."
- Specify your setting — retail, hospital, mail-order, or compounding — right in the summary; the regulations and skills differ enough that "pharmacy technician" alone reads as vague.
