Build a DevOps Engineer Resume That Gets Interviews

Free templates, ATS keywords, and resume tips written specifically for DevOps Engineer roles.

DevOps resumes are read for evidence of reliability, not just tooling familiarity -- a hiring manager wants proof you've kept systems running and made deployments faster and safer, not just a list of tools you've configured once.

Skills ATS looks for in a DevOps Engineer resume

What actually makes a difference

  • Quantify reliability and speed: deployment frequency, mean time to recovery, uptime percentage, or build-time reduction are the numbers this field is actually judged on.
  • Name your infrastructure-as-code tool precisely (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) -- it's a common hard filter in job postings.
  • If you've led an incident response or postmortem, include it -- it demonstrates the on-call ownership this role genuinely requires.
  • List cloud certifications (AWS Certified, CKA) near your name or in a dedicated line -- they're frequently a resume screening checkbox before content is even read.

A "Certifications" line near the top (AWS/Azure/GCP, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) is worth including even briefly -- this field screens on credentials more than most engineering roles.
