Build a IT Support Specialist Resume That Gets Interviews

Free templates, ATS keywords, and resume tips written specifically for IT Support Specialist roles.

IT support resumes are often the most generic in any applicant stack -- "troubleshoot issues" and "great with computers" say nothing measurable. What actually gets a callback is ticket volume, resolution time, and the specific systems supported.

Skills ATS looks for in a IT Support Specialist resume

What actually makes a difference

  • Replace "resolved technical issues" with a number: ticket volume handled per day, average resolution time, or first-call resolution rate.
  • Name the ticketing system and OS environments you've supported (ServiceNow, Zendesk, Windows/macOS) -- many postings filter directly on this.
  • If you hold a CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL certification, put it in the headline or near your name, not buried at the bottom.
  • Mention any scripting or automation you've done to reduce repetitive tickets -- it signals initiative beyond reactive troubleshooting.

List supported systems and ticket volume explicitly in a "Technical Environment" line -- it gives a hiring manager instant context for the scale of support you're used to.
